The ancient name of Pomorie.
Ἀγχίαλος — “by the sea, by the salt”
Before it became Pomorie, the town was called Anchialo. It lived off salt — off the salt pans on the shore of the salt lake, where to this day sea water evaporates under the sun and leaves two gifts behind: salt and lye.
We make ANCHIALO right there — in a workshop on the shore of Lake Pomorie. The black-and-white labels carry the memory of those days: salt workers with their wheelbarrows, white heaps of salt, the beaches of a century ago.

The brine
Salty water from the lake fills the shallow salt pans, known locally as “frying pans”.

The sun
The water slowly evaporates. Nothing is added — the sun and the wind do the work.

The salt
The salt crystallises and settles on the bottom of the pan — a layer of 8–12 cm.

The lye
Above the salt remains a dense liquid, rich in magnesium. This is Black Sea lye.
